Once a child is introduced into the vast and never-ending world of fun and learning, adventure is an everyday part of their life experience. And so, by putting the best educational toys in their small hands, you will start to notice their overall enthusiasm grow as they learn.

Children need to have a one-on-one experience with the world around them in order to fully make sense of it all. Not only do children learn how to walk, talk, and run, they learn how things work in general. By playing with a variety of toys, they can learn a great deal.

Toys are also important for a number of other reasons as well. Younger children, especially those in child care, learn about how their muscles work by playing with toys. Think of the balance and coordination it takes when they climb on a jungle gym or how their thought processes evolve when working with different shapes or colors. Many of their fundamental skills are developed just by playing with toys.

Here are five great toys for children in daycare or around preschool age that are both fun and educational.

1. Fridge Phonics Magnetic Letter Set by LeapFrog

Perfect for virtually any magnetic surface, the LeapFrog Fridge Phonics Magnetic Letter Set teaches preschool children age 2 - 5 how to read, identify, spell, and understand letters and words. The 26 interactive letters along with the letter reader enables children to easily memorize the alphabet by repeating it over and over.

2. Sit-to-Stand Learning Walker by VTech

A toddler's mind is much like a sponge, soaking-up knowledge from the time they wake up in the morning till the time they're tucked-in for the night. This highly educational toy will ensure that their time is spent learning about different sound-making gadgets and buttons while increasing their walking skills. The Learning Walker is the ideal toy for any child age 9 months - 3 years.

3. Busy Learners Activity Cube by VTech

Talkative and musical, this Activity Cube is perfect for the little "busy body" age 6 months up to 3 years who likes to engage in many takes simultaneously. It offers a number of things to keep a toddler happy for hours such as flip-up picture letters, sing-alongs, and 25 recognizable melodies that preschool-age kids and toddlers alike will love. Also, there's an animal section with special sound-effects that lights up with a push of a button.

4. Little Hands Touch and Feel Cards - Ready, Set, ABC by Alex Toys

Another great educational toy for toddlers is one that will teach them their basic ABC's like this one from Alex Toys. It's not your ordinary ABC book. It has 13 cards inside that are each double-sided containing a textured letter that will pique their sense of touch, including smooth fish, rough bumblebees, furry-feeling cows, and much more. Ideal for young preschoolers ages 2 - 6 as an intro to beginning-level reading.

5. Monster Bowling Game by Melissa & Doug

While bowling may sound more fun than educational, it does take a bit of thought and hand-eye coordination to play. Perfect for children age 2 and older, this game is not only educational but fun as well.

The silly-looking, yet adorable monsters will make your toddler squeal with joy. Children can easily set them up and have fun knocking them all down.

Virtually all games inspire children to learn while stimulating their imaginations. Keep in mind that simple card games like 'Go Fish' or board games like 'Chutes and Ladders' are also enjoyed by children as well. While education is certainly important, having fun is too.
